In 1920s America, Chandler works in her father's restaurant, training to eventually take over when he retires. The problem starts when her father goes missing one day without a word. Now she has set out with a private investigator, Orris Lyons, to try and find him.
She was found in the woods as a baby. Her father knows she's not a halfling, but she's unaware of it. She shifted into one as her tailess form when she first laid eyes on him. She just thinks she can do a neat trick and make herself taller to reach things.
Following her around is a whisp of...something, though she doesn't know why it chose to follow her. She named it Soap because it looks like a soap bubble. It usually hides in her hair or rests on her shoulder to watch the world around them. It doesn't talk yet, but it will once she levels up further and gets the feat of communicating with her familiar.
When confronted by someone from one of the party member's past, she was told she had done nothing wrong to be put on their list other than be born two years too early. Chandler has no idea what that means other than she apparently deserved to be stabbed in the heart for it in a limbo space where it didn't kill her, just scared her.
She is rightfully terrified, but is persevering for the sake of her father.
