The Initiative only thought Habitat-7 was devoid of sentient life.
Driven underground when nature turned against them, the Crepusca have remained hidden for over a century. Three or so months after the Pathfinder first visited the world, the Gatherers who took the risky trips to the surface for supplies came back, excited and shouting the news that the world was returning to normal. The skies were clear and breathable, and life was returning to the planet; soon, they wouldn't need the filtering system to have breathable air.
Cecil was among ten others who made first contact with a race of people called Sa...Salaries? Selinras? No. What were they? Oh, Salarians.
He and the others were scouting their former capital when they met them. At first, the Salarians aimed their weapons at them on reflex, but they quickly lowered them and apologized when they realized the Crepusca had no intentions of starting a conflict with them. It took time for each side to synch their comm units, but soon they were able to speak to one another. It was absolutely fascinating; their "Pathfinder" had an AI that added the newest lexicon to the visitors' systems.
As Cecil was already a scout to begin the preparations for relocating to the surface and preparing the way for their people to come home, he and three others were selected to help the races with this "Initiative" to find a place to settle and call home. He and the others play the roles of both scouts and ambassadors after both sides interact more. They did not know about the Angarans until they resurfaced; however, they do have records of the Remnant, and assisted in building the original mechanisms in their world after the Scourge hit. They didn't know how to completely operate them on their own and couldn't fix the problem when the vaults began to shut down; they were never taught or told.Â
In combat, his class is called the Crepuscan Scouter.
He provides some support as a healer, but his strength lies in revealing weak points on enemies and sending deployable decoys that will taunt the enemies into frenzies and attack their allies. When in the party, locations for extra caches, codex entries, and quest points are revealed.
He's much younger in this verse, likely closer to seventy or eighty (so a human's late thirties, early forties), and still very much married to Julia. The Crepusca will have the same lifespan mentioned in his base bio.
The Crepusca are still a small race, likely close to Volus in height.
