Arrive at shelter at 6:00 pm ready to cook.
Sign in and check-in with Volunteer Lead at the Front Desk.
Prepare food containers that will be delivered to Guests.
Clean up food, eating and serving utensils, tables, and dining area floor. If necessary, label and store food.
Sign out with Volunteer Lead when tasks are completed.
Arrive at shelter by 6:45 pm.
Sign in and check-in with Volunteer Lead at the Front Desk.
You will either be a Greeter, a Host, or a Server, depending on what you signed up for and needs at the time.
Do not exchange contact information with Guests
Sign out with Volunteer Lead between 8:30 - 9:00 pm.
Assist overnight staff interacting with guests and ensuring shelter policies are observed during the night.
Arrive at shelter before 8:30 pm.
Sign in and check-in with Volunteer Lead at 8:30 pm.
The paid Overnigh Lead is in charge of the shelter overnight. Volunteers should refer all questions, observations, and potential violations of rules to the Staff Overnight Lead.
Follow the schedule and rotations as directed by the Overnight Lead and other Staff.
One volunteer will be assigned to do the Fire Safety Inspection every 30 minutes.
This includes walking around the inside and outside of the building checking all points of egress, that fire exstinguishers haven't been tampered with, and that the base board heaters are being kept clear.
You will also be the one who will observe if vehicles have come and gone, as well as if the bathrooms have been continuously occupied between rounds.
Set out breakfast between 06:30 - 07:00 am, if there are no Morning Volunteers
Shelter closes for the day at 09:00 am.
Sign out with Shelter Director following closure.
Note: Volunteer Lead will be onsite before dinner and overnight opening; Jenny will be onsite to assist with shelter closing at 7:00 am.
