Hi, this is [buɹɑk ønej].

I'm in my third year of a Ph.D. program at Cornell University, specializing in Linguistics and minoring in Cognitive Science. My research interests are primarily in the intersection of theoretical syntax and its interfaces with semantics and morphology. Broadly speaking, I’m interested in how sentence structure is built by universal syntactic mechanisms, and how it interacts with other grammar modules. My research revolves around various topics including binding, negation, negative polarity/concord, information structure, argument structure, and word order (especially in head-final languages).

I received my MA degree in Linguistics from Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada, where I worked on the acquisition of a class of morpheme called "preverb" in Northern East (NE) Cree (Central Algonquian, ISO 639-3 code crl) with Julie Brittain. I obtained my BA degree from Middle East Technical University in Turkey.
