Building a Better Bioplastic

A sample of original avocado plastic that was dyed green. The sample relied heavily on the use of vinegar
A water chamber used for advanced water quality trials
Avocado plastic that had decomposed partially by day 15 of water exposure
Dried vinegar based plastic. Because of the high vinegar content, the plastic became brittle after drying rendering it unusable
New Formulation
This corn plastic was made using a new formulation created during year 3 of experimentation. The plastic is far more durable and does not crack
Plastic Molding
Molding done during the first year of experimentation. The plastics cracked and were almost gelatin like, unable to keep their shape
Avocado Plastic
Plastic derived from the avocado seed. One major issue with this plastic is the starch extraction. Ground seed particles often mix with the starch, creating lumps in the plastic.
