If a parent asked you if your dual language program (DLP) was successful, you would most likely say, "Yes." But how would you know? What metrics do we use to gauge success in DLPs? How do we engage in the work of continuous improvement, so that we can say with ever-increasing confidence, "This is the work ahead of us and this is where we are already strong."

This document from the Center for Applied Linguistics is a comprehensive guidebook that can be used to either plan a new DLP or to self-assess and existing program. Using the GPDLE rubric for self-assessment can be a powerful addition to your continuous improvement process, and will give DLP staff the data they need for capacity and implementation metrics.
