Privacy policy

Budget Blink ("the app", "we", "us") is a grocery price-tracking app for Android. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and your choices.
Account information: If you create an account, we collect the email address and password (via Firebase Authentication) or generate an anonymous account identifier if you sign in anonymously.
Location (region only): You provide a general location (e.g. city and state/country) so the app can search prices from the correct regional stores. We do not collect or track your precise real-time location.
Tracked product data: The names, sizes, target prices, and store selections of products you choose to track are stored so we can check prices and notify you of specials.
Product photos: If you photograph a product to help identify it, that photo is stored only on your device (in local app storage) and is never uploaded to our servers or any cloud database.
Subscription status: If you subscribe to the Paid tier, purchase and entitlement information is processed by Google Play Billing and RevenueCat to confirm your subscription status. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Referral data: If you use the referral feature, we store the referral code association between accounts to apply referral bonuses.
To track prices for the products you've selected and notify you when they go on special.
To determine which regional store APIs to query (Australia: Woolworths, Coles; United States: Kroger, Walmart).
To manage your account, subscription tier, and referral bonuses.
To show advertisements to Free tier users (see "Advertising" below).
The app uses the following third-party services, each of which processes limited data necessary for its function:
Firebase (Google): Authentication, database (Firestore), and storage.
RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase verification.
Google AdMob: Displays ads to Free tier users. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers to serve ads; you can reset or opt out of personalized ads via your device's Android settings.
SerpApi: Used to search product prices (e.g. as a fallback when direct store APIs are unavailable). Product search terms and general location may be sent to this service to return relevant results.
Store APIs (Woolworths, Coles, Kroger, Walmart): Used to search and retrieve publicly available product pricing information.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not collect precise real-time location, and product photos never leave your device.
Your tracked product data and account information are retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.
Budget Blink is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
