Porco Rosso is an animated adventure, set in the Adriatic Sea during the interwar years. It follows Porco, a former World War I fighter ace who has mysteriously transformed into an anthropomorphic pig and now works as a bounty hunter, fending off air pirates from his crimson seaplane. When his plane is damaged in battle, he seeks help from a spirited young engineer named Fio, and together they face rival pilots, political unrest, and Porco’s own haunted past. Wistful and daring, the film reflects on love, honor, and disillusionment in a world caught between dreams and decay.
