Akira is set in the dystopian metropolis of Neo-Tokyo, decades after a mysterious explosion devastated the city. It follows Kaneda, a reckless biker gang leader, and his childhood friend Tetsuo, who develops overwhelming psychic powers after a secret government experiment goes wrong.
