FAQ v1.0

Q: Why can't I use my old Mnet account to vote?

A: Since Oct 19, Mnet has changed their system to use SNS accounts to sign-in and vote.

Q: What is SNS accounts?

A: SNS stands for Social Networking Site, such as Twitter, Facebook, Naver, etc.

Q: Can I use temp emails (ruu.kr, yopmail) or Gmail dot method to create a new SNS account?

A: You can use any email service if the SNS platform allows it.

Q: What is Qoo10? Why are we asked to vote there?

A: Qoo10 is an online shopping site, and also the main sponsor for MAMA. They've added an additional page on their site for fans to login (using Qoo10 accounts) and vote in the MAMA categories. (http://special.qoo10.com/MAMA/Vote)

Q: Why can't I find the Mwave Global Fan Choice in Qoo10?

A: MAMA Mwave Global Fan Choice voting can only be done at Mwave's main site.

Q: Where do I check if I've already voted?

A: Go to this link to view the most recent votes on the account. (Only for MAMA site)

Q: I've been voting for BTS since the first day but it only shows 2 votes!

A: Mwave will show the most recent votes you've made.

Q: Everyone is saying we should track our votes as proof. How do I do that?

A: Visit this page and take a snapshot of the votes you've submitted, which will show the date and time of your most recent votes.

Q: Can I check my recent votes for Qoo10?

A: Unfortunately Qoo10 does not provide that option.

Q: Can I vote more than once?

A: MAMA allows each SNS account and Qoo10 account to vote once per day. Create more SNS and Qoo10 accounts to increase your votes.

Q: I logged out of the Mwave site and tried to login with another SNS account, but it keeps signing me back into the first account. Why?

A: You need to logout of BOTH Mwave and the SNS site. To help you, we have a list of shortcuts:

Another method is to clear your cache and passwords from your browser, before closing and reopening the voting page.

Q: Why do I keep getting this message?

A: This means you've already voted with that account today. Logout of both the SNS and MAMA sites and login with a new account to vote.

Q: Why do I keep getting this error message?

A: Mnet allows 10 votes per IP address. Try to change your IP and vote again.

(Continue scrolling to find out how to change your IP)

Q: But I voted only 5 times and still received the IP error message. Why?

A: If you've been voting in the MAMA categories AND the Mwave poll, each vote counts as 1.

MAMA (5 votes) + Mwave (5 votes) = 10 votes recorded per IP address

Q: I have 20 accounts. How do I vote more if Mnet limits 10 votes per IP?

A: We suggest these methods:

    1. If using a home Wifi: Switch off the wifi/internet router and switch it on again after 20 minutes. Your ISP will assign a new IP to the router.
    2. If using a public Wifi: Find another location with free wifi :)
    3. If using mobile data: Enable airplane mode. Wait 5 minutes, then disable it. Your ISP will assign a new IP to the phone.
    4. Other methods (please research carefully before using this): Install VPN

Q: Is it illegal to vote with different IP addresses?

A: Mnet has specified that the votes are 10x per IP. There is no clause stating that multiple IP addresses are illegal.

Side note: IP Addresses are assigned by the ISP (Internet Service Providers) to users. If you're using mobile data to vote, moving from one service area to another changes your IP address. If you're using wifi, your ISP may cycle the IP addresses whenever the router refreshes or gets rebooted.

If you're using VPN to change your IPs, check first if it is allowed in your country. Some countries ban the use of VPNs and the punishment can be a hefty fine.

BTSxMVP has also posted a thread regarding the use of VPN here.

Q: I keep getting "IP Invalid" everytime I try to vote!

A: This is likely to be a network issue. Follow these instructions to refresh your IP:

PC Users:

Windows 7 and above

  1. Open the Start menu on your PC
  2. Type CMD and hit Enter.
  3. A black prompt box will appear.
  4. Type ipconfig/release and hit Enter.
  5. Next, type ipconfig/renew and hit Enter again

Android/iPhone users:

  • If you're on Mobile Data: Enable 'Airplane' mode on your phone, then disable it.
  • If you're on wifi: Switch off the wifi router, and switch it on again.
  • If you don't own the wifi router: Switch off your phone wifi, switch on the mobile data. Wait 5 mins then switch on your wifi again.

Note1: IP release/renew works if your PC is automatically being assigned a dynamic IP address. Most home internet users will be able to use this method, but if you are trying to vote from a school lab or workplace - chances are that your system has been assigned a static IP (fixed IP address).

Note2: IP release/renew does not work for MAC and mobile users. More information for iOS users will be posted soon.
