We are investigating one of the fundamental characteristics of Nature through Informational approach.
Since "Information is Physical" [Physics Today 44 (5), 23 (1991)] , we can understand the Nature in a different way by informational perspectives. From the basic science to philosophy, our understanding is limited by our language, and hence our understanding is done by our informational manipulation. Meanwhile thanks to huge progress in information science and technology, it is reasonable to interpret the Nature by advanced information science and technology such as quantum information.
Based on this motivation and advancements, our lab is focusing on the Quantum Computational Scientific approach
to understand the Potentials and Limits of Human-made Information and
to know the Brain's (=Ultimate Informational Model) information, computation, learning, and consciousness.
Our lab has the following questions.
Q1) What are the Potentials and Limits of quantum information, computation and learning?
Quantum Information: Stable Quantum Information, its Scalability for Large Quantum System, Limit of Information
Quantum Computation: Models, Algorithms, and its Limit of Computability [Nature 406, 1047 (2000)]
Quantum Learning: Interface with Classical Information, Models, Limit of Learnability
Q2) How the Brain define information, compute, learn and have consciousness?
What is the Information Unit for Brain?
How the Brain can compute and learn?
Finally, how the Brain can generate Consciousness?
