When we arrived on Friday we set up camp, which involved setting up tents and the dinning fly, and moving a picnic table. We ate our snack of Oreos and milk, and decided to go to sleep early.

To start off the chilly Saturday morning we ate breakfast and learned the hard way of cooking precooked bacon. While the older scouts went to work on Ryan’s Eagle service project the younger scouts stayed at camp to work on advancement. We all took a well deserved lunch break and then worked some more on Ryan’s Eagle service project. The older scouts then helped the younger scouts work on their advancements. We all had fun cutting down a dead tree for firewood. All of us enjoyed our feast of barbeque chicken, corn on the cob, and garlic bread. Everything but the corn was made on the campfire. Unfortunately our game of capture the flag was cancelled due to the snow, so most of us gathered around the dinning fly and campfire while a few of us had a snowball fight. Because we didn’t feel like scavenging in the snow for sticks to toast the marshmallows on, we ate Chips Ahoy and marshmallows instead of having S’MORES for a snack. Again we decided to go to sleep early.

When we woke up on Sunday morning we saw that the ground had a coating of snow on it. All of us packed up our personal gear and tents before we had a filling breakfast of Pop-Tarts. When we finished breaking down camp, we headed to the old church and arrived there a half an hour early! The chilly campers were Allen, Greg, Jacob, Kurtis, Ryan, Mr. Drown, and Mr. Makowski. Those particpating on Saturday were Derek, John, Kevin, Matthew, Steven, Mr. Mayher, and Mr. Schaffeld. Sorry, no pictures this trip.

Trip Plan for Byzantine Monastery

Date and Time of Departure: Friday, April 13th, 6:30pm - Old Church

Purpose: Service and Fun at the Monastery! Work on advancement and Eagle Scout Service Project.

Location: Byzantine Monastery, 6688 Cady Rd, North Royalton, OH 44133

Directions:

1. Broadview Rd. South to Rt 82.
2. Rt 82 West to State Rd.
3. State Rd South to Cady Rd.
4. Turn right heading West on Cady Rd.
5. Byzantine Monastery is on right hand side about 1/2 mile from State Rd.

Cost: $10.00 per scout (permission slip and fee due at meeting on April 3rd)

Estimated Time of Return: Sunday, April 15th, 9:30am
