The repressive rule of the Yuan Dynasty in the Central Plains led to all the suppression of the Han nationality in the Central Plains in singing. A group of outstanding Yuan opera masters emerged during this period: Guan Hanqing, Bai Pu, Zheng Guangzu, Ma Zhiyuan, etc. The formation and development of Yuan opera has a profound impact on later generations. The local opera of the Yuan Dynasty was promoted by the great writer Tang Xianzu of the Ming Dynasty. The large opera troupes of the Ming and Qing Dynasties were very popular throughout the country. In China, there are northern and southern operas. There are Peking Opera and Kun Opera in the north. Southern Yue opera, Cantonese opera, Chaoshan opera, etc., even in modern China, these five operas still exist.

     The performances of Quju are popular and pleasing, and usually use moral and ethical plots to spread education, encourage people to be good, and beautify the beauty of the world. Quju is an indispensable spiritual food of the times.

      元朝高壓統治華夏中原，致使中原漢族的壓抑全部寄託在唱曲上抒發出來。這個時代湧現了一批優秀的元曲名家，如關漢卿、白撲、鄭光祖、馬致遠等。元曲的形成與發展影響後世曲劇相當深遠，由元曲衍生出來的各地方戲曲更是在明朝大作家湯顯祖的推動下發揚光大。明清兩朝大戲班更是風魔中國各地。在中國大致分南北戲曲，北方有京劇、昆劇等；南方有越劇、粵劇、潮劇等，及至現代中國還保留南北五大劇種。

      曲剧表演内容通俗易懂、赏心悦目，多以道德伦理情节，传播教育思想，劝人向善，美化人间美好，是时代不可缺少的精神食粮。
