According to business insiders, KKR & Co. is nearing a deal with a group of private credit lenders to refinance more than $3 billion in loans of its portfolio company PetVet Care Centers, a veterinary hospital operator.

 

This refinancing initiative is crucial for the highly indebted company, aiming to extend the maturity of its debts that are set to mature in 2025. The private equity firm is close to receiving a new $2.3 billion unitranche loan from a group led by Blue Owl Capital Inc. The loan pays an interest margin of 6 percentage points over the Secured Overnight Financing Rate. The recapitalization also includes $400 million of preferred equity from third-party investors and $600 million of additional common equity provided by KKR. KKR, the private equity behemoth, could still attempt to refinance the debt through the syndicated leveraged loan market, particularly if conditions in financing markets improve
