Troop 128 has been proudly serving the youth of Rhinebeck and surrounding communities for over 50 years. We are dedicated to providing a quality scouting program for our youth and giving back to our community.

Troop Meetings:

  • When? Most Tuesday nights during the school year (refer to calendar)
  • Time? 7:00pm- 8:30pm
  • Where? Neighbors' Gun Club Rhinebeck, NY

Troop Meetings

We meet most Tuesday nights between the months of September and June. At our troop meetings we typically learn about a particular skill or activity and then put our newly learned skills to use. We do a variety of things such as fire building, cooking, first aid, orienteering, rifle shooting, ax/knife/saw safety, and more! Each year we have a new set of scouts that join the troop which gives the older scouts the opportunity to teach the new scouts the skills they've previously learned.

Trips

Our troop also does a variety of extra day trips and overnight trips throughout the year. In the past we've gone to West Point for the day to watch a football game. We've also done rock climbing and fishing trips as well. Some of our overnight trips have included our annual week-long trip to summer camp, various weekend camporees, and our annual trip to Wells, NY in the Adirondacks.

Community Service

Troop 128 enjoys giving back to our community that's given so much to us. Every year we participate in Scouting for Food in Rhinebeck to get non-perishable food donations to our local food pantries. We also do several roadside clean-ups along our adopted highway route between Rhinecliff Road between Starr Library and the Rhinecliff Train Station. Each scout looking to receive the rank of Eagle must carry out an Eagle Scout project to give back to their community. Some of these projects have included park benches, pavilion restoration, bird houses, a handicapped ramp, and more.

Fundraisers

Each year, our troop does a variety of fundraisers in order to buy new equipment, lower the cost of trips, etc. Our two biggest fundraisers are our Pancake Breakfasts which are held on the first Sunday of January, February, and March of each year at the American Legion in Rhinebeck, NY and our annual Wreath Sale.
