The Story of BRWF and Its Evolution into a Global Research Promoting Platform
Universities are not just institutions of higher learning but also centers for knowledge creation and dissemination. They play a vital role in fostering a conscious, forward-thinking society. To achieve this, research must be at the core of every university’s mission. The unique value of universities lies in their ability to generate new ideas and expand the boundaries of knowledge through research. Unlike secondary schools and colleges, where students follow a set syllabus, universities offer the opportunity to understand basic concepts and explore their practical applications through research. This is where true academic exploration begins, allowing students to enhance, innovate, and contribute to new dimensions of knowledge.
Unfortunately, in many universities in Bangladesh, students primarily engage in research only in their final year, often just to fulfill graduation requirements. Passionate research from the first or second year is a rare occurrence. However, this conventional mindset is being challenged by individuals who recognize the transformative power of early research engagement.
One such individual is Mr. Md. Sabir Hossain, currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), Bangladesh. Under his mentorship, students from as early as their second year in CSE at CUET have published more than 10 articles in international conferences and journals—a remarkable achievement that is rare not only in Bangladesh but also in universities around the world.
Inspired by this success, Mr. Hossain founded a online media-based platform, Be Researcher World Forum (BRWF), to cultivate and spread this research enthusiasm among students globally in 2020. His vision was to create a space where students, regardless of their academic year or geographic location, could be encouraged to engage in meaningful research from the beginning of their academic journey.
BRWF has since grown into a global platform, driven by world-class visionary researchers and academicians who are passionate about fostering a research-friendly environment in higher education. Despite challenges related to funding and recognition, BRWF continues to support research enthusiasts by offering resources, guidance, and opportunities for collaboration.
Today, BRWF stands as a beacon for students and researchers alike, promoting a research-focused culture across universities worldwide. It provides activities and resources to help learners pursue their research goals passionately and professionally, all while dreaming of a future where research is an integral part of academic life from the very start.
