The Bruton Bull Beggar Fun Run - now in its second year! A fun morning for families and friends to get together and enjoy running together in the beautiful surrounds of Bruton, Somerset. Come along and join in the fun as we challenge you to outrun the Bull-Beggar.

There'll be refreshments and surprises as we host you for a challenging hilly out-and-back 5km event and a shorter family-friendly 2km event.

All registrants will need to sign in on the day to collect their race number and complete a health and safety waiver.

What is a Bull-Beggar?

The story of the bull-beggar and Bruton goes back to 1880. Farmers and travellers spoke of a mysterious figure haunting the roadway near Creech Hill in Bruton that would swell to abnormal height when approached.

A bull-beggar gets it name from 'bugbears'. The Bruton Bull-Beggar Fun Run is all about chasing your fears away and not letting them scare you from realising your dreams.

Parking

Durslade Farm have kindly allowed us to use their land for the Bull-Beggar Fun Run. If you can, please walk or cycle to the start. If you are driving, parking will be in the main Durslade Farm car park - please try to bring a full car of people!

Kit/rules

The route is all off-road, so we would recommend a good pair of running-specific trainers. Depending on the weather, there may be mud, so please dress appropriately.

Although both races will be marshalled, adult runners are responsible for their own safety at all times and parents/guardians are responsible for their children at all times.

Refreshments

Teas, coffees, cakes and juices will be available at the start/finish area for spectators to enjoy.

We will also have iced lollies at the finish line for our runners to cool down with. There will also be limited supplies of water, but please bring your own bottles to save waste, thank you.

Health and safety

We will have a first aid point available at the start/finish area. Marshal's will be positioned on course - if you have any issues during the event, please inform one of them who can help.

If you come across another runner who is experiencing any difficulties, please help them, even if that means ruining your race finish time.
