BDL 11/16: the effects of COVID measures

High School Students

To prep for the tournament, research the category for the upcoming tournament here. You'll have 30 minutes to prep your speech during the tournament. Your speech should be 5-7 minutes long and include 2-3 areas of analysis and evidence in each area supporting your answer. You are allowed to use the internet during prep time and you are allowed to a notecard with no more than 50 words written on it during your speech. Note: You will be given a choice of 3 questions in each round during your prep time. You will get to pick the one you want to prep and speak on.


Middle School Students

To prep for the tournament, research the questions for the upcoming tournament here. You’ll have 20 minutes to prep your speech during the tournament. Your speech should be 5-7 minutes long and include 2-3 areas of analysis and evidence in each area supporting your answer. You are allowed to use the internet during prep time and you are allowed to use your notes during your speech. Note: You will be given a choice of 3 questions in each round during your prep time. You will get to pick the one you want to prep and speak on.


How to Write an Extemp Speech

An Extemp speech should be 5-7 minutes long. When you are prepping, don't write out a speech word for word but write an outline and practice talking extemporaneously using your outline. You are allowed to use your outline during the round.
