Declamation

Declamation Database

For Declamation, you'll have to pick a speech to memorize. You can find one on your own or scroll through the database on the left, if you want.

Step 1: You will probably have to "cut" your speech, meaning trimming it down to a shorter excerpt to memorize. If you're in middle school, we recommend you memorize at least 5 minutes. High school students should memorize between 8-10 minutes.

Step 2: Write an intro. Use this as a resource for how to write a good intro.

Step 3: Start memorizing. Be sure to pay attention to your pacing, tone, volume, eye contact, gestures, and body language.

If you need help choosing a speech, memorizing it, or presenting it, come to practice! (see schedule here)
