Overview

This app is an educational reader that retrieves article summaries and images from Wikipedia. We do not require accounts. We do not sell your personal information. The app displays ads through Google AdMob as described below.

Information we collect

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or an in-app account. Bookmarks and app settings are stored locally on your device. When you search, your query is sent to Wikipedia as described in “Search queries.” For advertising, Google AdMob and its partners may use device and advertising-related data as described in “Advertising (AdMob).”

Search queries

When you search for an article, your query text is sent to Wikipedia to return results. Wikipedia may receive standard network data (such as your IP address) as part of providing that service.

Local storage (on your device)

The app stores bookmarks and app settings (such as appearance preferences) locally on your device using Room and DataStore. This data stays on your device unless you uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android system settings.

Third-party services

Content is fetched over HTTPS from Wikipedia (MediaWiki and Wikipedia REST APIs). Your use of Wikipedia services is subject to their policies. Ads are served by Google AdMob; see “Advertising (AdMob).”

Advertising (AdMob)

Bitrannica displays advertisements through Google AdMob (Google LLC). You may see:

AdMob and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies and may collect or process information such as: IP address, device type and identifiers (including the advertising ID where available), general location derived from IP, app activity related to ads (for example impressions and clicks), and diagnostic data to deliver, personalize, measure, and improve ads and to detect fraud and abuse. How Google uses data from apps that use its services is described in Google’s policies (including the Google Privacy Policy and, where applicable, information for partners).

Bitrannica does not receive your payment card details through AdMob and does not sell your personal information. You can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising ID in your Android device settings under Google / Ads, or your Google account ad settings, depending on your device and region.

Logs

The app may create diagnostic logs on your device (for example, network request logs) to help with troubleshooting. These logs are not intentionally transmitted to us.

Children’s privacy

The app is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe personal information was provided, please contact the developer so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app.
