Backstory:

Yaromir Serebryakov grew up in Petrozavodsk, surrounded by forests. His upbringing was structured but not harsh. His father worked in forestry, his mother taught physics. He learned early that order mattered, not because of authority, but because things fell apart without it.

As a teenager, a close friend betrayed his trust by stealing and lying convincingly enough to make Yaromir question his own judgment. That moment taught him that people act selfishly in even ordinary situations. He adapted by becoming observant and selective with trust.

Joining the military was a practical decision rather than a patriotic one. The structure suited him. Over time, he developed a personal philosophy: people are flawed and often unreliable, but predictable enough to work with. Humor became both a defense mechanism and a way to connect without overcommitting emotionally.

Why Does Cherep Behave This Way?:

Repeated exposure to small betrayals and inconsistencies taught him that expecting too much from people leads to disappointment. Instead of becoming bitter, he adjusted, lowering expectations.

His emotional distance is intentional. It allows him to function clearly, make decisions without hesitation, and avoid unnecessary entanglement. At the same time, he hasn’t lost his ability to connect, he simply chooses carefully who earns that space.
