Core classes are taught by certified teachers and specialists. Students are placed by age into primary, upper elementary, and middle school classes. Core classes have 9 or fewer students in person and 6 or fewer students virtually. Space is limited and filling quickly in our program.
Students receive comprehensive language arts, math, science, and social studies instruction. Art, PE, and electives are also available. Instruction and intervention is evidence-based. Specialized instruction for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and learning issues is provided at no extra cost.
The instruction is generally traditional but tailored to our student's learning needs. Science and social studies are taught in a multisensory, hands-on fashion. Math is mostly traditional, with innovative methods for memorizing math facts. Language arts includes phonics, fluency, comprehension, literature, writing, spelling, and grammar. During the 2020-21 school year, middle school and upper elementary students have been studying forms of government, US history, and geography. In 2021-22, students will study world history and world geography. Science will include units selected from physical science (motion, light, levers, engineering), chemistry, life science (biology), earth science (volcanoes, geology, weather), and astronomy (solar system).
Students receive Orton-Gillingham based dyslexia intervention, if needed. Our specialists are trained in Lindamood-Bell Seeing Stars and LiPS programs, Wilson Reading, Take Flight, Neuhaus Basic Language Skills, and other programs. Dyslexia and dysgraphia services are included in tuition.
Special Education & Accommodations
Special education instruction is available and included in tuition.
Gifted/Talented Education (Quest/Pace)
Students who are gifted & talented receive specialized instruction with their gifted & talented peers. Instruction may include project-based learning, individual projects, and advancement in one or more subjects.
Homework is kept to a minimum. We instruct the students at school, but we will offer homework upon request.
Our students do not need to take the STAAR test because we are a private school.
Students are graded on their mastery of skills, and report cards show which skills have been mastered. We keep detailed assessments to determine which skills have been mastered and which skills need improvement. We meet with parents regularly to review progress and goals.
We have options for you to enroll separately in private speech therapy, occupational therapy, and possibly other therapies onsite.
