Mass Academy’s day to day operations wouldn’t be possible without the presence of a very special woman: Ms. Julie Theriault. As the operations manager, Theriault is tasked with recording student attendance, keeping files and documents organized, and taking care of other daily tasks. Her desk is situated at the front of the school, and she can be found greeting students when they walk in every morning.
“My favorite part of working here has to be the students,” says Theriault. She considers herself to be a “people person,” and truly values the interactions and relationships she has with Mass Academy students everyday.
“Ms. Julie radiates positive energy, and she’s genuinely such a caring person. She laughs at all my jokes, even if they’re not funny,” said junior Krisha Patel.
Aside from day to day tasks, Theriault's responsibilities include planning large school events and handling communications with the Department of Education. She takes care of preparations for prom, senior dinner, and welcoming the incoming class of students each year. Additionally, she compiles student data and sends out quarterly reports to state administration.
In fact, she’s been deemed the Mass Academy “crisis averter,” thanks to her problem-solving skills and determination to overcome any obstacle that Mass Academy is faced with.
Just recently, Theriault saved the day, when junior McKenna Childs realized her STEM poster had accidentally been taken out when the trash was picked up. Theriault and Childs drove around WPI’s campus looking for the missing board, and after a half an hour of searching and a little bit of good luck, they were able to retrieve the poster.
“She even went dumpster diving with me to salvage my STEM poster,” said Childs.
Theriault is always willing to support her students, and Mass Academy would not be the same without her.
