With Mass Academy’s FIRST Robotics Team (Gompei and the Herd) attending its last off-season event prior to build season at the beginning of November, here’s a recap of what Team 190 has been up to.
The team saw their V2 robot – Redundancy – make a competition appearance at the New England Robotics Derby (N.E.R.D.) on 5th October. Redundancy performed well, leading the team as Alliance 3 captains to the Finals round.

With RiverRage following in late October, the team’s newest (V3) robot – Poot – was unveiled for the offseason. This competition was a major highlight where both robots competed. The team engaged in the event’s customary Halloween Costume Contest as well, with 190 team members following a Shrek theme. Redundancy was dressed as Donkey, and Poot as Shrek.

Wrapping up, the team competed in the Battle of the Bay and Girls Behind the Glass competitions (at Prospect Mountain High School, NH) in early November, with both robots on the field for the last time. Beyond the competitions, the off-season has been an essential period of preparation for the official build season; new team members have started learning how to prototype following a mock season kickoff, preparing for the upcoming 2026 season game, officially titled REBUILT!
