Catch Yourseld
By Mohammad Golji
I’m falling out of my desk
My watch’s time can’t keep me upright
I told them I’d become the best
Better now that they don’t see me and fill with fright
These notes have meshed into one morbid mess
Mind-mapped into seething blight
My only solace that some test
Will not last through the night
Though I study still
Till the moon parallel glow
For sixty minutes of my brain walking in the snow
I'll be frozen, my head hung low
Whipping arithmetic I still don’t know
Dirt above me, Thoreau with his hoe
I’m in Walden, I see the city out the window
Prayers whisper themselves to me
If I become a bean, maybe then I’ll grow
Prayers shove into my eyes
Tenacity grips me in fear
I don’t have to be beanstalk to rise
Adrenaline is all I will hear
Never again do I lay in demise
Learning is My license, I shift My mind into gear
I don’t need knowledge to be wise
Surprise! This effort They will hold dear
The cold around me only tells lies
I catch myself
We’re the cold blooded
Look at the warmth in Our eyes.
