brian p sampson

memorial Scholarship

Brian Sampson's life was tragically taken too soon August 23rd, 2016 from a known medical condition, SUDEP. In the time since we lost Brian, his family and friends have been working to find a way to remember Brian’s life, and to give back to the community that shaped him. Brian was the life of the party wherever he went, and so to continue giving back in his honor, we have established the Brian P Sampson Scholarship Fund.

Brian was born January 29, 1987 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He was an adventurous, funny,  caring, smart, hardworking individual who always lived life to the fullest. He was known in the family as a Jack of All Trades. Brian could fix anything around the house, from TVs and computers to building a nice country porch for relatives. There wasn't much that Brian couldn't handle. He was an avid softball player and thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the New England sports teams as they dominated their opponents. Brian graduated from Braintree High School in 2005 then continued his education at Bay State School of Technology. These qualities inspired us to create a scholarship in his honor to help a student who shares a passion for one or more of the activities that Brian was a part of. This scholarship is to help send an individual whom is pursuing a career in the building trades, just as Brian did. There will also be a secondary preference given to students living with a chronic illness or disability. Braintree High School will pick an applicant based off of who they feel is most deserving of this Scholarship. We feel it is appropriate to honor Brian in Braintree where he grew up.

The Brian P Sampson Scholarship is funded through our annual BPS Cornhole Tournament and individual donations. The Committee, in making scholarships available, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, handicap or national/ethnic origin. Board members (current or former) of the Brian P Sampson Memorial Scholarship, or any member of the family of any such board members are ineligible to receive awards from the Committee.
