Brian Kersten Veterinarian

Brian Kersten, a veterinarian who grew up on a farm in Appleton, Wisconsin, has channeled his foundational experiences with animals into a distinguished career in veterinary medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota, graduating with high distinction in 1977. This early academic success laid the groundwork for his lifelong dedication to improving animal health.

In 2021, he established Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin, to make veterinary care more affordable. As the founder and owner, he ensures that financial barriers do not hinder pets from receiving necessary medical care. His areas of specialization include small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry, where he is known for his skilled and compassionate approach.

In addition to his duties at the clinic, he serves as a relief veterinarian in Amery, Wisconsin. This role allows him to contribute his extensive knowledge and expertise to various veterinary practices, enhancing the standard of animal care in the broader community.

After receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1983, he embarked on his veterinary journey. He initially practiced in a mixed animal clinic in Burlington, Wisconsin, where he developed a versatile set of veterinary skills. In 1985, he undertook a humanitarian mission to Haiti, spending 2.5 years helping animals and local communities, demonstrating his commitment to comprehensive welfare.

After returning to the U.S. in 1987, he purchased a mixed practice in Baldwin in 2001, which he led until 2016. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to community service led him to open Mercy Veterinary Service in 2021, focusing on providing accessible care to underprivileged pet owners.
