Let’s start from the beginning with the general context of what a system is, and how its principles translate within the creator economy. That’s not forgetting the profound impact of AI and increasingly accessible automation tools.
A system is a set of interconnected components that work together toward a defined purpose. The components can be tangible (like the parts of a car engine), intangible (like the rules of a game), conceptual (like a framework for making decisions), or a mix of all three. What makes it a system is the intentional organization: each part has a role, and the relationships between them produce outcomes that the individual parts could not achieve alone.
At its core, a system has three components:
Elements – the things (people, tools, rules, data, etc.).
Interconnections – how those elements interact (flows of information, sequences, feedback loops).
Purpose – the goal or function the system serves.
