If you need a slightly more compact footprint without sacrificing core performance, the Breville BOV680BSS is the runner-up, offering a streamlined design that fits smaller counters while still mastering crispy reheat and quick cooking tasks.

The Breville BOV860DBL Smart Oven Air Fryer in Damson Blue represents the sweet spot between raw power and everyday usability. It isn't just a box that blows hot air; it is a fully integrated kitchen command center built around the brand's proprietary Element iQ System. This technology utilizes five independent quartz heating elements that communicate via smart algorithms to direct power exactly where it is needed. The result is a cooking environment that eliminates cold spots and maintains precise temperatures through digital PID control, ensuring that your food cooks evenly from edge to center.
I see this model as the ideal solution for households that cook for groups. The generous interior dimensions provide ample room for a 13-inch pizza, a whole roast chicken, or even a 4.4-quart Dutch oven for slow-cooking stews. When you activate the dedicated Air Fry setting, the unit combines high temperatures with super convection technology, which maximizes airflow to crisp up foods like french fries or chicken wings without the need for excess oil. The Super Convection fan actively circulates hot air, reportedly reducing cook times by up to 30% compared to traditional ovens, which means dinner gets on the table faster.
Beyond the air frying capability, the sheer breadth of functions makes this a true all-in-one appliance. You can toast bagels, broil steaks, bake cookies, warm leftovers, or proof dough using one of the eleven distinct cooking modes. An LCD display keeps you informed of progress, automatically signaling when pre-heating is complete and starting the countdown timer so you don't have to guess. A helpful interior light turns on automatically at the end of the cycle, allowing you to check on your food without opening the door and losing heat.
The main trade-off here is size and weight. If you have a very small galley kitchen or limited storage, the sheer bulk might feel overwhelming. However, for most homes, the ability to replace a toaster, a pizza oven, and a stand-alone air fryer with a single, powerful machine justifies the footprint. It is a heavy-duty appliance designed to last and perform under pressure.
The Breville BOV950BSS Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro takes the concept of smart cooking to the next level by integrating deep connectivity into the hardware. This brushed stainless steel powerhouse is designed for the modern chef who wants their appliances to talk to them. Through the Breville+ ecosystem, users gain access to thousands of guided recipes, live classes, and cook guides tested specifically for this oven. The "Joule Autopilot" feature is particularly impressive, guiding you through multi-step recipes that seamlessly transition between different cooking modes, handling the complex timing and temperature adjustments while you focus on prep work.
Voice activation is a standout feature that sets this model apart from its siblings. You can simply say commands like "Hey Google, set the oven to bake," allowing for hands-free operation when your hands are covered in flour or grease. This compatibility with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa adds a layer of convenience that feels futuristic yet practical. The oven also boasts thirteen pre-set smart cooking functions, refined through extensive data research to ensure consistent results whether you are baking, roasting, or dehydrating.
The internal architecture remains robust, utilizing the same five-element Element iQ system found in other premium models to steer power precisely. This ensures that despite the advanced software, the physical cooking performance remains top-tier. The oven can handle both air frying and dehydration simultaneously or sequentially, meaning you can make crispy wings and dried apple slices in the same session. The precise heat control combined with maximized airflow creates an environment that yields crispy exteriors and juicy interiors.

However, the price point and complexity might not appeal to everyone. This is a sophisticated piece of technology that relies on an app and internet connectivity to unlock its full potential. If you prefer a simple dial-and-turn interface without needing to download software or manage digital accounts, this model might feel like overkill.
The Breville RM-BOV860BSS1BUS1 Smart Oven Air Fryer offers a unique value proposition by bringing the flagship features of the original line into a renewed condition. This brushed stainless steel unit retains the core engineering that makes the series famous, including the five-independent quartz element setup and the smart algorithmic steering of power. It delivers the same 11 cooking functions and super convection technology that reduces cooking time by up to 30%, providing the same crisp, golden results for fries and wings as a brand-new model.
This option is compelling for buyers who want the premium performance of the Element iQ system but are looking to optimize their budget. The interior capacity remains spacious, accommodating six slices of bread, a 13-inch pizza, or a 4.4-quart Dutch oven, making it suitable for family meals. The LCD display provides clear feedback on pre-heat completion and countdown timers, while the integrated oven light allows you to monitor progress without interrupting the cooking process. The replaceable componentry suggests a design philosophy focused on longevity and serviceability, much like a traditional large oven.
The primary consideration here is the "renewed" status. While the product information confirms it includes the full suite of features, buying a refurbished unit involves accepting a different condition than a fresh-from-the-box item. For some shoppers, the savings outweigh the uncertainty of cosmetic wear or previous usage history. It is a pragmatic choice for those who understand the technical specs and care less about pristine packaging.
The trade-off lies entirely in the assurance of condition versus new inventory. Functionally, it mirrors the BOV860DBL almost perfectly, but the lack of a manufacturer warranty extension or the pristine look of a new unit may deter perfectionists. If you are comfortable inspecting a renewed appliance and know exactly what you are getting regarding the specifications, this is a highly efficient way to acquire a high-performance oven without the premium price tag associated with new stock.
The Breville BOV680BSS Smart Oven Air Fryer Compact is engineered for efficiency and space optimization. Unlike the larger counterparts, this model is designed to fit comfortably on smaller countertops without sacrificing the ability to produce high-quality results. It features a user-friendly dial interface that controls five air fry modes and five smart cooking functions, allowing for quick adjustments at the turn of a knob. The "Crispy Reheat" mode is a specific highlight, deploying even radiant heat on both top and bottom elements to restore moisture inside while maximizing crunch on the outside, perfect for reviving leftover fried foods.
This oven excels in environments where every inch counts. Whether you are cooking for one or two people, or you simply have limited counter space in a shared apartment, the compact form factor is a major asset. Despite its smaller size, it still utilizes the Element iQ system to steer power effectively, ensuring that the reduced volume does not lead to uneven cooking. The super convection fan speeds up the cooking process, cutting time by up to 30% compared to conventional methods, which is crucial for busy weeknight dinners.
The inclusion of Breville+ guided recipes means that even this smaller unit connects to a vast library of culinary guidance, helping users navigate twenty-plus tested recipes. The "Almost There" feature adds a nice touch of flexibility, allowing you to add a bit more time or heat with a single button press if you feel the food needs just a little extra crispness or doneness. It strikes a balance between high-tech features and straightforward manual control.
The limitation, naturally, is capacity. While it handles snacks and meals well, it will struggle with larger roasts or big family gatherings compared to the 13.5-inch interior models. You won't be able to fit a whole turkey or a 9x13 inch pan in this unit. If your cooking habits involve feeding a crowd regularly, this compact version might feel too small. However, for singles, couples, or small families who prioritize speed and counter space over volume, it is a highly capable and intelligent machine.
The Breville BOV900BTR Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro in Black Truffle distinguishes itself with a focus on versatility and specialized functions like dehydration. This unit expands the cooking repertoire to thirteen functions, adding specific settings for proofing dough and dehydrating food. The dual-speed convection fan offers granular control, allowing you to switch between regular circulation and the high-volume super convection required for rapid air frying or dehydration. This flexibility makes it an excellent tool for hobbyist bakers and health-conscious cooks who want to make their own dried fruits or jerky.
The interior capacity is notably large, measuring 16 x 13.5 x 7 inches, which accommodates nine slices of bread or a 14-pound turkey. This generous space means you can cook large batches of food or use deeper bakeware, including a 5-quart Dutch oven. The Element iQ system ensures that even with such a large cavity, the heat distribution remains precise, eliminating cold spots that often plague larger ovens. The LCD display provides clear visibility of all functions and timers, keeping the user in control of the cooking process.
Dehydration is a key differentiator here. By combining high temperatures with controlled airflow, the oven can prepare a wide range of foods for drying, effectively replacing a standalone dehydrator. This adds significant value for those interested in preserving seasonal produce or creating healthy snacks. The ability to roast, bake, and air fry with equal proficiency makes it a central hub in the kitchen.
The main trade-off is the specialized nature of the additional functions. If you do not plan to dehydrate or proof bread, the extra complexity of thirteen functions might be unnecessary. Furthermore, the black truffle finish, while stylish, may show fingerprints more readily than stainless steel options. It is a powerful machine, but its value is highest for those who will actually utilize the full spectrum of its capabilities, particularly the dehydration and proofing modes.
The Breville BOV860PMR Smart Oven Air Fryer in Pomodoro Red brings the same reliable engineering as the blue version but with a vibrant aesthetic that stands out on any countertop. It features the identical eleven cooking functions, including Toast, Bagel, Broil, Bake, Roast, Warm, Pizza, Air Fry, Reheat, Cookies, and Slow Cook. The Element iQ system with five independent quartz elements ensures that the power delivery is as smart and precise as the other models in this tier, delivering tailored cooking environments that eliminate cold spots.
This model is perfect for those who love the functionality of the standard line but want to inject some personality into their kitchen decor. The super convection technology works hard to reduce cooking times by up to 30%, ensuring that meals are ready quickly and with a crispy texture. The large interior, capable of holding a 13-inch pizza or a roast chicken, makes it suitable for family dining. The LCD display and interior light function exactly as they do in the blue variant, providing clear feedback and visibility during the cooking process.
The red finish is durable and sleek, matching the professional look of the brushed stainless steel alternatives while offering a pop of color. It appeals to homeowners who view their appliances as part of their overall design scheme rather than just hidden utilities. The build quality supports the claim of replaceable componentry, suggesting that this appliance is built to endure years of daily use.
There are no functional differences between this model and the Damson Blue version; the choice comes down to color preference. However, the weight and footprint remain the same, requiring a stable and spacious countertop. If you are deciding between the colors, the decision rests entirely on your kitchen's style palette. It is a solid, no-compromise choice for anyone who wants the full Breville experience in a bold, eye-catching package.
