About me

I am a philosopher and researcher based in Sydney, with interests in consciousness, self-inquiry, and contemplative experience. I currently teach online in career development at Murdoch University (Perth). I am also a guest scientist at Witten/Herdecke University in Germany, where I collaborate on first-person research into consciousness. My work bridges academic philosophy, contemplative traditions, and first-person methods of inquiry—particularly the Headless Way. I regularly publish and present in academic settings, and also write philosophy for general audiences. I also lead regular Headless Way workshops.

I was a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow at Witten/Herdecke University in the Department of Psychology and Psychotherapy, 2021-2023. I completed my philosophy PhD in the School of Philosophy at the Australian National University in 2016. My honours in philosophy was at the University of Queensland. Before this I completed a PhD in cognitive psychology at the University of Queensland in 2006. My honours in psychology and BA (majoring in philosophy and psychology) was at the University of Adelaide.
