Help the people & animals of Rio Grande do Sul

Rio Grande do Sul, one of the 26 states in Brazil, have been struck by a major flood with devastating force. Houses, hospitals, shops, companies completely flooded or destroyed. Roads and bridges demolished, and no longer passable. It's almost impossible for us to imagine but it's the horrific reality for the people & the animals in Rio Grande do Sul. 

Many people had to leave their homes in a short time. Completely surprised by the water. Many people also did not expect the water to rise so high. More than 179 people did not survive the devastating force of the water and the number of deaths is expected to increase further. There are currently 104 people missing and it is unknown whether they are still alive. Many people lost everything in the flood. Lost their home, belongings, pets and some even lost their family or friends. More then 806 people are wounded. More than 580.000 people lost their house and became homeless in a short amount of time. more then 615.000 people needed to leave their houses. It's not sure if their homes are lost completely or still standing and in what condition the houses are.

Why are donations so important:

• Direct emergency aid: Purchase, collect and distribute of food, drinks, clothing, medicines. Everything that is currently necessary for 1st immediate emergency aid.

• Assistance to volunteers who carry out rescue operations at their own expense and often at the risk of their lives to save even more people and animals. (boats, petrol).

• Assistance to various shelter locations for both people and animals.

• Help and support to people who have lost loved ones (+/_ 179 deaths).

• Reuniting pets and animals with their owners.

• Putting animals up for adoption that no longer have an owner or family.

• Support in rebuilding & cleaning the affected areas/houses.
