In the latest update on the beta build the flag to disable the download bubble and use the download shelf was removed. I personally hate the download bubble in the top right corner. For the past 15 years of using Chromium based browsers starting with when Google Chrome was initially released, as such I have been accustomed to how the download shelf worked, which was itself an evolution of how Internet Explorer handled it. Earlier this year the default behavior with the Chrome 2023 redesign it changed both how the horizontal tab bar and the download location worked to be, in my opinion, worse. I was able to revert both of these changes with the flags previously, however in the latest beta build there is no longer an option in the flags to disable the download bubble and instead use the old shelf.

I totally agree. The download shelf is more useful than the download bubble. It would be SOOO easy to have an option for both if they want to push using the bubble. Removing useful features is SO Google. Blech!

Yes, agree! I am used to create an ICS file (Calendar format) from my online ERP system, which I can drag into my calendar tool. And that is possible from the shelf in the bottom. Plus in the shelf you can see in one glance what the status and progress is of each download.

Agree as well. This is very inconvenient to have an extra step to access downloaded files. Please return the option to have the bar at the bottom on the download. There should at least be a choice to enable it.

On my. Macbook I can only download one file even if I selected several ones, have to confirm each single one. The website is setup for allowing multiple files and it shows the selection even in the small downloading arrow shown right hand of the web address. Not sure, on one day I think I tried to do it that way cause I needed the files and after dozens of it it worked. On my IMac it is working all the time with the same setup. Tried the Beta version to compare but Im not even to start it, get immediately the Mac error report window.

@dalto Thank you for the suggestion. I have removed both xdg-desktop-portal-gnome and xdg-desktop-portal-gtk, closed brave, re-opened it (Just from standard application launcher) and the issue still persists. I have not logged out or restarted yet.

Hey, Olivier, your proposed solution solves the issue but it changes my file download pop up to generic ubuntu 22.04. I am using a gnome theme and the pop up is not consistent with it. I guess the problem might be with using gnome themes on ubuntu 22.04. BTW i am using this theme ( )

I'm still seeing this issue, it seems to be related to Chrome engaging with the file-picker because the unresponsiveness happens whenever I download, or upload a file. The file transfer goes through fine, but Chrome is immediately unresponsive to the mouse. Interestingly, it's restricted just to that window (and all of its tabs), other Chrome windows are just fine.
