The Eternal Void
A long, long time ago, before anyone or anything existed, there was a great nothingness. It was called the Void. Imagine trying to look around and seeing nothing—no sky, no trees, no ground beneath your feet. There wasn’t even a sound, not even a whisper of wind. The Void was completely empty, dark, and silent. No colors. No shapes. Just pure, endless blackness that stretched on forever.
But in the middle of all that emptiness, someone was there—God. God was always there, even before time itself began. He didn’t need light to see or air to breathe. He existed perfectly, in ways that are hard for us to understand. God is special because He doesn’t need anything else to be Himself. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and full of love. And even though nothing else existed yet, God wasn’t lonely. He was full of joy and excitement because He had a plan—a plan to create something extraordinary.
The Void was not scary or sad; it was simply waiting for God to do something marvelous. Think of it like a giant, empty canvas, just waiting for the greatest artist in the universe to begin painting. God looked at the endless nothingness, and He knew exactly what He wanted to do. He wanted to create a world, a beautiful and amazing world full of life, color, and love.
This world wasn’t going to be ordinary. No, God had something truly incredible in mind. He would make the heavens with bright, twinkling stars and planets spinning far away. He would form the earth, with mountains that touched the sky, rivers that flowed across the land, and oceans so deep you couldn’t see the bottom. And He would fill this world with every kind of living creature—big and small, crawling and flying. And then, He would create something even more special than that. He would create people, like you and me, to live in His beautiful world.
But before any of that could happen, there was still the Void—quiet, dark, and still. Imagine how quiet it was. No birds chirping, no waves crashing, no animals moving about. Just silence. And the darkness was so thick, it felt like a blanket covering everything. But God didn’t need light to see. He could see perfectly, even in the darkest dark. The Void was endless, stretching in every direction—no beginning, no end. It was like the universe was holding its breath, waiting for God’s first move.
God wasn’t bound by time. Time didn’t even exist yet! He was outside of time, patient and perfect, waiting for just the right moment to begin His creation. The Void wasn’t empty because something was missing; it was empty because nothing had been created yet. It was like a deep, quiet ocean without a single ripple, waiting to be filled with light and life.
But even though there was nothing there yet, God had everything ready in His mind. He knew exactly how the world would look when it was done. He could already see the sun shining brightly in the sky, feel the cool breeze blowing through the trees, and hear the soft rustling of animals in the grass. Every detail, every tiny part of creation, was already in God’s thoughts. It was all planned perfectly.
And then, in the middle of the deep, silent darkness, something amazing happened. God spoke.
His voice wasn’t like any other voice. It wasn’t soft or quiet. It was full of power and life, more powerful than anything you can imagine. When God spoke, His words didn’t just fill the Void with sound—they filled it with the power to create! With just His voice, He could make something out of nothing.
Before anything else came to be, God’s voice echoed across the silence, ready to shape the universe. His voice was so full of love and strength that it could bring light where there had never been light before. And this light would be the first step in turning the empty Void into the world we know today—a world full of wonder, beauty, and life.
As God stood at the edge of the Void, He was about to do something no one had ever seen before. He was going to bring the entire universe into existence. And He wouldn’t need tools or hands to do it. Just His words. His powerful, loving words.
This is how it all began: in the quiet, still darkness of the Eternal Void, with God watching, waiting, and preparing to create something so incredible, so amazing, that it would fill the entire universe with light, life, and joy.
In the next chapter, you’ll see how God’s first words shattered the darkness and filled the Void with the most amazing thing—light!
