Branch — Auto-Sorting Tree Tabs
Last updated: October 30, 2026
Branch organizes open browser tabs in a sidebar. This policy describes the current version of the extension.
Branch reads the titles, addresses, favicons, pinned/group status, opener relationships, and last-accessed times of open browser tabs to display, search, organize, and sort them. It records tab creation and selection timestamps during the current browser session. It does not read the text of webpages, form entries, passwords, or the browser's full browsing-history database.
Sorting, sync, and Compact view preferences are stored locally in Chrome extension storage and remain until cleared or the extension is removed. Tab IDs, opener relationships, timing metadata, user-entered custom tab names, and manual tab arrangements are stored in Chrome session storage and are cleared when the browser session ends. Closed-tab records are removed during reconciliation. Custom names apply only inside Branch; they do not change webpage titles.
Branch does not send tab information to the developer or to an analytics service. It does not sell user data, include advertising, or execute remotely hosted scripts. Favicons are requested through Chrome's favicon endpoint. Normal webpage loading and Chrome's own services remain governed by their respective policies.
Native tab-order sync is optional and off by default. You may disable it at any time using Sync tabs. You can reset a custom tab name using Reset or by saving a blank name. Choose an automatic sorting mode to leave Manual order. You can remove the extension through Chrome's extensions page to remove its extension storage.
Branch uses browser tab information only to provide its tab organization features. It does not use or transfer this information for advertising, sale, creditworthiness, or lending. Branch’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
This policy may be updated when the extension's data practices change.
