These pads are built for people who prioritize sound isolation above all else. The design features a high-grade memory foam core wrapped in protein PU leather, creating a seal that blocks external noise effectively. This combination is ideal for environments where you need to focus, whether you are in a busy office or trying to hear every detail of a mix in a noisy room. The material feels substantial and durable, suggesting it will hold up well against daily wear and tear without cracking or peeling like thinner stock options.
For users with oval-shaped headphone cups, these provide a secure fit that maintains the original acoustic signature of the device. They are specifically engineered to work with popular models like the Audio Technica M50x and various HyperX headsets, ensuring that the driver alignment remains correct. The thickness of the foam adds a layer of cushioning that reduces pressure on the ears, making them suitable for hours of continuous use without discomfort.
However, the trade-off lies in breathability. Because the outer shell is solid leather designed to trap sound inside, heat can build up more quickly than with fabric alternatives. If you live in a hot climate or tend to run warm while wearing headphones, you might find yourself reaching for a different material after a few hours. Still, for pure isolation and a premium feel, this remains a top-tier choice for anyone looking to revive old cans or upgrade their current setup.
Velour is a game-changer for listeners who spend long hours glued to their music or games. These pads replace standard leather surfaces with a soft, fabric material that allows air to circulate freely around the ear cup. This makes them an excellent choice for marathon gaming sessions or long study periods where temperature regulation is just as important as comfort. The fabric texture also feels gentle against the skin, reducing the risk of irritation for those with sensitive ears who often find leather too rough or sticky.
Despite the change in material, the internal structure remains robust. A high-quality memory foam core ensures that the pads still offer deep cushioning and proper support, so you don't sacrifice comfort for breathability. The mounting system uses a large flap on the rear, which allows for a secure attachment to many different headphone brands, from Steelseries Arctis to Logitech G Pro headsets. This versatility means you can swap out worn-out cushions on multiple devices without needing to hunt for specific parts for each one.

The main compromise here is sound leakage. While the velour material excels at keeping your ears cool, it does not seal as tightly as leather or pleather variants. This means some ambient noise might bleed in slightly more, and a tiny bit of bass might escape if the volume is turned up very high. For critical listening in quiet rooms, this is negligible, but for those who rely heavily on noise isolation in loud environments, you might find the open weave less effective than a solid cover.
If you have larger headphones or simply enjoy having extra room for your ears, the XL version addresses the common issue of tightness found in standard pads. These are crafted with extra depth and width, specifically targeting round-cup headphones that struggle with shallow stock cushions. Models from Sennheiser, AKG, and HiFiMan often benefit significantly from this added space, as it prevents the drivers from pressing uncomfortably against the ear canal. The result is a much more relaxed fit that feels spacious rather than constrictive.
The materials match the brand's usual standards, utilizing high-grade memory foam and a durable protein PU leather exterior. This ensures that even though the pads are larger, they maintain their structural integrity and do not sag over time. The increased size also contributes to better passive noise isolation by covering a larger surface area of the ear, creating a more complete seal around the head. It is a simple but effective upgrade that transforms the wearing experience for owners of large-over-ear designs.
You should note that these are strictly for round cups and will not fit oval-shaped headphones. Attempting to force them onto incompatible models could result in a poor fit that distorts the sound or fails to stay attached. Additionally, the sheer size might make them protrude more from the ear cups, which could be a minor aesthetic consideration for those who prefer a sleeker profile. However, for anyone struggling with fit issues on large cans, this is a straightforward solution.
These pads take a unique approach to heat management by incorporating tiny perforations throughout the faux leather surface. Designed primarily for classic studio monitors like the Sony MDR-7506, V6, and CD900ST, they offer a middle ground between the isolation of leather and the breathability of cloth. The small holes allow air to pass through, preventing the buildup of sweat and heat that typically plagues studio headphones used for long mixing sessions. This design choice respects the legacy of these iconic tools while modernizing their comfort levels.
Underneath the perforated surface lies the same high-density memory foam found in other Brainwavz products, ensuring that the acoustic performance remains intact. The foam provides excellent support and maintains the intended soundstage of the headphones without muddying the frequencies. Installation is straightforward thanks to the large mounting flap, which adapts to various pad systems. This makes them a versatile upgrade not just for Sony models, but potentially for other on-ear headphones that share similar dimensions.
The primary downside is that the perforations may slightly alter the bass response compared to a solid leather pad. Some audiophiles might perceive a slight reduction in low-end punch due to the air escaping through the holes. While this is often a worthwhile trade-off for the comfort gain, purists who demand absolute maximum isolation might prefer a non-perforated alternative. It is a specialized product that shines brightest in professional audio environments where hygiene and temperature control are paramount.
This set is tailored specifically for the Bose QuietComfort lineup, including the QC15, QC25, and QC35 models. One of the standout features is the inclusion of pre-fitted attachment rings and scims, which simplifies the installation process significantly. You do not need to dig out old adhesive or struggle with loose parts; the new pads come ready to snap into place with minimal effort. This attention to detail makes it an accessible upgrade for anyone whose original ear pads have become cracked or uncomfortable over time.
The materials used are high-grade PU leather and soft foam, aiming to restore the "box-fresh" feeling of new headphones. The goal is to bring back the original sound quality and comfort that diminishes as stock pads age and degrade. By replacing worn-out components, you can extend the life of your expensive noise-canceling headphones without buying a whole new pair. The fit is precise, ensuring that the active noise cancellation capabilities remain unobstructed by gaps or misalignments.
However, these are highly model-specific and will not work on other brands. If you own a different type of noise-canceling headset, this product will likely be useless to you. Furthermore, while the leather is high quality, it shares the same breathability limitations as other solid-surface pads. In very warm conditions, you might still experience some heat retention, though the soft foam helps mitigate this slightly compared to harder plastics.
Designed exclusively for the Skullcandy ecosystem, these pads fit models like the Crusher Wireless, Hesh 3, and Venue ANC perfectly. They are engineered to slip directly into the existing mounting grooves, eliminating the need for tools or complex assembly. This direct replacement design ensures that the acoustic properties of the headphones are preserved while offering a fresh layer of comfort. The use of high-grade memory foam and soft foam layers provides a plush feel that contrasts well with the often rigid plastic shells of consumer gaming headsets.
The durability of these pads is a key selling point, as they are built to withstand heavy use and frequent removal. The materials are chosen to resist tearing and cracking, which are common failure points for stock cushions on budget-friendly gear. By upgrading to these, you essentially give your headphones a second life, restoring both their visual appeal and physical comfort. The black colorway blends seamlessly with the original design, maintaining the sleek look of the Skullcandy branding.
The limitation here is strict compatibility. These will not fit any other brand or model, so you must double-check your specific headset version before purchasing. There is no universal application for this particular SKU. Additionally, while they offer good comfort, they do not feature the advanced cooling technologies found in the hybrid or velor options, meaning they might get warm during intense usage sessions.
These represent a significant step forward in comfort technology by combining a thick layer of cooling gel with high-grade memory foam. Targeted at Skullcandy Crusher and Hesh series users, the top layer is a super-soft, silk-like fabric that sits atop the gel. This dual-layer system is designed to actively wick away moisture and keep the ears cool, addressing the primary complaint of overheating in gaming headsets. The result is a luxurious feel that stands out from standard foam or leather replacements.
The construction includes a generous amount of padding, providing more room for the ears than the original stock pads ever did. This extra space reduces clamping force and prevents the "hot ear" phenomenon that often ruins long gaming sessions. The slip-on installation mechanism is user-friendly, allowing for quick swaps without any hassle. It is a clear winner for anyone who prioritizes thermal comfort and plushness over raw sound isolation.
The trade-off involves potential bulkiness. Because of the added gel and fabric layers, these pads are thicker than the originals, which might slightly alter the way the headphones sit on your head. Some users with smaller heads might find the increased volume pushes the headphones further out or changes the fit profile. Additionally, the fabric surface, while comfortable, may show signs of wear faster than synthetic leather, requiring more frequent cleaning to maintain its appearance.
This final option serves as a reliable, all-purpose choice for a wide array of oval-cup headphones. Compatible with brands like Audio Technica, Shure, and Steelseries, it offers a versatile solution for those who own multiple pairs of cans or simply need a generic upgrade. The black enclosure material and memory foam core provide a classic, understated look that fits most setups. It delivers the same high-quality sound insulation and comfort that the brand is known for, making it a safe bet for general consumers.
The large mounting flap ensures that these pads can adapt to various attachment systems, making them a true universal fit within the oval category. They are thicker than standard stock pads, offering improved cushioning and longevity. For users who want a straightforward replacement without worrying about specific colors or exotic materials, this black variant hits the mark. It is a practical, no-frills option that focuses purely on function and durability.
As with other leather-based options, breathability is the main constraint. If you are prone to sweating or live in a humid environment, you might find these less comfortable than the velor or hybrid versions. However, for general listening, commuting, or office work where noise isolation is key, they perform exceptionally well. They are a solid, dependable choice that balances cost, comfort, and performance without any gimmicks.
We compared published specs and features across the entire range; the ranking is our independent editorial opinion; no brand paid for placement. Our selection focused on material composition, design intent, and compatibility lists to ensure each recommendation matches real-world needs.
Most models feature a slip-on design or pre-fitted rings that allow for tool-free installation, letting you refresh your headphones in minutes.
Each product sheet lists specific compatible models, such as the Sony MDR-7506 or Bose QC35, so always check the list before buying to ensure a proper fit.
While they do not change the drivers, high-density memory foam and better sealing can improve passive noise isolation and bass response by restoring the original acoustic seal.
For cycling, you generally want something breathable and secure; while these are great for stationary use, if you are looking for bluetooth headphones for cycling, you might consider dedicated wireless options, but if you need sweatproof true wireless earbuds for cycling, these earpad upgrades are not the right path; however, for best wireless earbuds for cycling or similar activities where ventilation matters, the velor or perforated styles offer better airflow than solid leather.
