Brad Howland


About Brad

Brad Howland holds the Principal Trombone chair of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, and has performed in the past with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, CBC Vancouver Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Palm Court Orchestra, and new music group Aventa Ensemble. He is a founding member of the low brass ensemble Heavy Metal, primarily performing school concerts on euphonium and trombone.

A graduate of Northwestern University and the University of British Columbia, Brad has taught trombone at the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre, Victoria Conservatory of Music, Marrowstone Music Festival, and University of Victoria.

Brad took up composition in the summer of 2020 when he found he had a lot of pandemic-related free time. His works have been performed in Canada and Australia, and are published by Linden Brass Press Inc. at and Brad is a member of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN).
