If you want premium over-ear comfort and a massive 30-hour battery life for long school days, choose Bowers & Wilkins Px7; if you need a lightweight, weather-resistant in-ear design that handles sports and rain, choose Bang & Olufsen Beoplay.
• Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e: Offers superior sound engineering with custom 40mm drivers and a plush, over-ear fit designed for marathon listening sessions, though it lacks the rugged weatherproofing needed for intense outdoor workouts.
• Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Eleven: Delivers an incredibly portable, aluminum-and-glass aesthetic with IP57 water resistance and active noise cancellation in a tiny package, but sacrifices the extended battery life and deep bass presence of larger headphones.
• Best for School: Choose the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 for all-day focus and comfort during lectures, or the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay if you are constantly moving between classes, running to the gym, or need gear that survives sudden downpours.
The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e is built for the student who values immersion above all else. When you are sitting in a crowded library or trying to block out the hum of a busy dorm hallway, these headphones offer a specific kind of isolation that only comes from a full, over-ear design. The plush foam earpads wrapped around your ears create a seal that not only blocks ambient noise but also ensures that you can wear them for hours without the fatigue that often plagues smaller earbuds. The metal accents and leather-like materials give them a substantial feel on the head, signaling that they are serious tools for serious listening rather than just another fashion accessory.
Sound quality is where this pair truly shines for academic and creative work. The 40mm drivers are angled specifically within the earcup to deliver a soundstage that feels wide and detailed. With support for Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and 24-bit DSP processing, the audio reproduction aims to be as close to the artist's intent as possible. Whether you are analyzing complex classical compositions for music theory class or diving into high-fidelity podcasts, the frequency response from 10 hertz up to 20,000 hertz ensures you catch every nuance. The six-microphone array works in tandem with advanced noise cancellation to keep your calls crystal clear, which is vital when you are taking online exams or participating in remote study groups.

However, this product is not for everyone. If you are the type of student who needs to run to class while it is raining or jogging to the track, the Px7 S2e might feel like too much commitment. While the carrying case is protective, the headphones themselves do not have an official water resistance rating mentioned in the specifications, meaning they are best kept indoors or in dry conditions. Furthermore, the 307-gram weight, while distributed well by the headband, is still significantly heavier than a pair of in-ear buds. If you prefer a "set it and forget it" experience where you don't feel anything on your head, the bulkier form factor here might be a trade-off you aren't willing to make.
The Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Eleven targets the dynamic student who lives on the move. Its primary strength lies in its ability to be completely unobtrusive while still delivering powerful performance. Crafted from natural aluminum and hardened glass, these earbuds look distinctively modern and sleek. The in-ear design means they disappear into your ears, leaving your hands free and your head unburdened by the weight of a headset. This makes them ideal for the person who needs to stay aware of their surroundings, perhaps while navigating a busy campus or walking across town, yet still wants to immerse themselves in music or lectures when the moment strikes.
Durability is a standout feature for this model. With an IP57 rating, these earbuds are engineered to withstand dust and water immersion. You do not have to worry about sweating through a workout or getting caught in a sudden summer storm. The soft silicone tips ensure a secure fit that stays put even during vigorous activity, making them one of the best choices for those who treat their school day as a mix of study and physical activity. The touch controls on the hardened glass surface allow for easy adjustments without fumbling for buttons, and the multipoint connection lets you seamlessly switch between your laptop for research and your phone for communication.
The trade-off here is primarily in the endurance department compared to larger over-ear options. While the charging case extends the total playtime to 20 hours with ANC, the earbuds themselves provide up to 6 hours of continuous use. For a student pulling an all-nighter or attending back-to-back virtual meetings, this 6-hour window might require a mid-day top-up from the case. Additionally, the 9.2mm driver, while impressive for its size, cannot physically produce the same low-frequency rumble as the 40mm drivers found in larger headphones. If you are looking for a bass-heavy, room-filling sound experience, the compact nature of the Beoplay Eleven will always feel slightly more intimate and less expansive than its over-ear counterparts.

For the specific context of being a student, I would buy the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e. The reality of school life involves long hours spent in static positions—sitting in classrooms, studying in libraries, or working at a desk. In these scenarios, the 30-hour battery life and the ergonomic, over-ear design of the Px7 provide a level of comfort and consistency that small earbuds simply cannot match. While the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay is undeniably stylish and durable, the need to recharge earbuds every few hours and the potential for ear fatigue after a long study session makes them a secondary choice for me. I recommend the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 for anyone prioritizing deep focus and all-day endurance in a school environment.
The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 features hybrid active noise cancellation with six microphones, offering excellent isolation for quiet study areas, while the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay claims to have its best noise cancellation technology to date in an earbud form factor for better portability.
The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e provides 30 hours of playback on a single charge, whereas the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay offers 6 hours on the buds plus an additional 14 hours from the case, totaling 20 hours.
Only the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay is rated IP57, meaning it is waterproof and dust resistant for sports and travel; the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 does not list a water resistance rating and should be kept dry.
Yes, the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 includes a 3.5mm stereo jack and a USB-C cable for wired connections, while the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay relies entirely on Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.
