If you want a compact, friction-fit solution for a standard 1.25-inch hitch that stays put without losing the cap, choose BougeRV 1; if you need a larger 2-inch cover with bold patriotic graphics to make a statement on your ATV or truck, choose Swono Bald Eagle American.
• BougeRV 1: Its biggest strength is the clever integrated mounting bracket that keeps the rubber plug from getting lost when you remove it, and its trade-off is the smaller 1.25-inch size which won't fit larger hitches. This pick is for the driver who values organization and needs a simple, no-nonsense protector for a smaller receiver tube.
• Swono Bald Eagle American: The standout feature here is the striking visual design featuring a bald eagle and American flag, paired with a sturdy build for 2x2 inch receivers, though it requires a pin or clip since it lacks a dedicated retention bracket. This option is for the owner who wants their vehicle's rear end to look finished and patriotic while protecting a larger hitch opening.
The BougeRV 1 is engineered for a very specific type of user: someone who drives a vehicle with a standard 1.25-inch trailer hitch receiver and hates fumbling around in the dark trying to find a small plastic or rubber piece they just pulled out. The product description highlights a unique friction-fit design that secures the cover without needing a separate hitch pin or clip, which is a genuine convenience feature. However, the real differentiator is the included bracket designed to be permanently mounted over the receiver tube. This bracket acts as a home base for the cover when it isn't in use, ensuring you never misplace the protective plug again.
In terms of materials, this unit is constructed from quality black rubber. Unlike cheaper hard plastics that can crack under extreme temperature swings or UV exposure, this rubber maintains flexibility and sealing performance over time. You are looking at dimensions of roughly 1 x 5 x 2 inches, making it a slim profile that sits flush against the rear of your vehicle. It is designed to keep dirt, water, and road debris out of the hollow receiver tube, preventing rust buildup inside the metal housing where it would otherwise be impossible to clean.
This product is ideal for everyday drivers, SUV owners, and light-duty ATV users who primarily tow small trailers or utility carts. If your primary goal is purely functional protection without adding visual flair, this is the tool for the job. However, if you drive a heavy-duty truck or an off-road rig with a massive 2-inch receiver, this item simply will not fit your vehicle. Furthermore, if you are the type of person who frequently swaps between towing and non-towing modes and tends to lose small accessories, the integrated bracket makes this the only logical choice to prevent that frustration.

The Swono Bald Eagle American shifts the focus from pure utility to a blend of protection and personal expression. Designed specifically for the standard 2x2 inch receiver tube, this cover is significantly larger than the BougeRV model, measuring about 3.15 x 3.15 x 1.77 inches. The most immediate selling point is the graphic design itself. Instead of a plain black block, this cover features a bold image of a bald eagle waving an American flag. It transforms a mundane piece of hardware into a conversation starter that adds personality to your riding experience.
Durability is another key component of this product. Like its competitor, it is made from high-quality black rubber, but the formulation appears robust enough to withstand the elements while maintaining a tight fit. The text emphasizes that it does not deform easily and resists falling off once installed. While it does not include a permanent mounting bracket like the BougeRV, it relies on a secure push-fit installation that requires no tools. You can install it anywhere, anytime, by simply pushing it into the receiver until it seats firmly.
This product is tailored for the outdoors enthusiast, the weekend warrior, or the pickup truck owner who wants their vehicle to reflect a sense of pride. It is perfect for ATVs, trucks, tractors, and sedans equipped with 2-inch hitches. If you plan to use your vehicle for holiday travel or want a piece of gear that doubles as a potential gift or souvenir, this cover serves a dual purpose. However, if you strictly need a minimalist aesthetic or have a smaller 1.25-inch hitch, this larger unit is incompatible. It is also worth noting that because it lacks a built-in storage bracket, you must remember to store the cover safely if you remove it for towing, as there is no tethered anchor point attached to the vehicle.
• Best for preventing loss → BougeRV 1 (The permanent mounting bracket ensures you always know where your cover is).
• Best for visual impact → Swono Bald Eagle American (The eagle and flag design offers a distinct, patriotic look that plain rubber cannot match).
• Best for 1.25-inch hitches → BougeRV 1 (Specifically sized for smaller receiver tubes; the other model is too large).
• Best for 2-inch hitches → Swono Bald Eagle American (Fits the wider standard found on most trucks and larger ATVs).
• Best for tool-free setup → Both (Both utilize a friction/push-fit mechanism requiring no extra hardware for installation).
• Best for material longevity → Tie (Both utilize quality black rubber designed to resist deformation and maintain flexibility).
• Best for minimalism → BougeRV 1 (A sleek, all-black profile that blends seamlessly with any vehicle).
• Best for versatility across vehicles → Swono Bald Eagle American (Fits a broader range of heavy-duty vehicles including tractors and full-size trucks).
When I weigh the practical engineering against the aesthetic appeal, the decision comes down to what matters more to your daily driving habits. For me, the BougeRV 1 wins on pure logic. The integrated bracket solves a problem that every single hitch owner faces at some point: losing the plug. Knowing exactly where my cover is located gives me peace of mind that I won't leave my expensive receiver tube exposed to the elements. However, if you own an ATV or a truck and want something that screams patriotism while keeping rust away, the Swono Bald Eagle American is the superior choice for style. Ultimately, for an ATV owner who prioritizes function and convenience over graphics, I would buy the BougeRV 1.
