boto is made with the philosophy that computers can be light, fast, and feel like an extension of the body. The design rules in boto of prioritizing hotkeys and minimizing the classical "windows-like" workflow is done to delegate snappy toggle controls to the keyboard, delegate precision controls to the mouse, and to make programs control the display instead of the operating system fighting for it. boto is made to do all of these, and yet still feel easy to use, still just work.

boto is named after botox, as both make things smoother and cleaner, but the X in botox is removed as a nod to boto's origin from antiX. The Mascot of boto is a hot-pink and royal-purple Stephanodiscus Astraea diatom, representing how boto is lightweight, and goes with the flow, it doesnt fight back. The color scheme is #ff38fc and #542491 because they are brilliant, legible colors, but they look straight out of 1998, because boto is a statement against the modern, clean, corporate design philosophy, it is the anti-windows.
