Boston Bruins Schedule

The NHL's regular season begins Jan. 13, but the Bruins will hit the ice for the first time on Thursday, Jan. 14 versus the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. It's the first of three road games to begin the season for Boston. The Bruins' home opener at TD Garden is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Bruins will only play against divisional teams in the regular season. Their schedule includes 25 sets of two consecutive games against the same team, as well as eight back-to-backs. Boston's longest road trip is four games, which will happen three times.

The National Hockey League and ESPN today announced updates to the 2021-22 NHL regular-season schedule. ABC will televise the 2021 NHL Thanksgiving Showdown, which will feature the New York Rangers vs. Boston Bruins on Friday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. ET.

Some of the early season schedule curiosity might have been for a potential season-opening trip in Europe that the Boston Bruins may have had planned, but got scrapped at some point due to the ongoing COVID challenges. That would explain the 10 days of practice without exhibition games headed into the start of the NHL regular season back in October.

The Bruins have taken advantage of this easy schedule, and that could end up benefitting them tremendously late in the regular season if the races for home ice and first place in the Atlantic Division are close, and there's a good chance they will be.

Discovery Sports, will enter its second year of live NHL on TNT coverage with a 62-game regular season schedule highlighted by the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions Colorado Avalanche raising their championship banner during a marquee opening week doubleheader on Wednesday, Oct. 12, the 2023 Discover NHL Winter Classic on Monday, Jan. 2, regular live game coverage on Wednesday nights and additional live Sunday afternoon games in Spring 2023.
