If you want deep, immersive sound and superior call clarity for long work sessions, choose Bose SoundLink Around Ear; if you need ultra-low latency gaming performance and massive battery life, choose Cleer ARC 3. This decision isn't about which brand is more famous or which has a fancier box; it is strictly about what you are trying to do with the audio in your hands. While both products aim to deliver wireless freedom, they occupy completely different corners of the market. One is built for the office and the commute, prioritizing comfort and voice quality, while the other is engineered for the gamer and the power user who needs hours of uninterrupted playback and zero lag. Understanding these fundamental design goals is the only way to make a choice that actually serves your daily routine.
• Bose SoundLink Around Ear: Offers industry-leading deep, immersive sound with an advanced microphone system for HD voice calls, but limits playtime to 15 hours per charge.
• Cleer ARC 3: Delivers up to 50 hours of total playtime with ultra-low latency under 30ms for gaming, yet uses an open-ear design that sacrifices passive noise isolation.
• Best for meetings: The Bose model is the clear winner for professional calls and long conference days.
• Best for gaming/streaming: The Cleer model dominates for low-latency synchronization and all-day battery endurance.
The Bose SoundLink Around Ear Wireless Headphones II is designed for people who prioritize audio fidelity and voice communication above all else. If your primary environment involves office meetings, remote work, or listening to music in a busy world, this product targets those specific needs directly. This is not just about loudness; it is about clarity. The inclusion of an advanced microphone system specifically notes its ability to handle windy or noisy environments, making it a robust tool for taking calls where background chaos is common.
For the professional who spends hours on Zoom or Teams, the 15-hour battery life is a critical feature. While 15 hours might seem modest compared to some competitors, it is substantial enough to cover a full day of heavy use without needing a mid-day top-up. The headphones weigh in at just 6.88 ounces, and the manufacturer describes them as lighter and more comfortable than comparable models. This weight reduction is paired with impact-resistant materials, suggesting a build quality meant to survive the rigors of a busy workday, from being tossed in a bag to daily wear and tear.

However, this product is not for everyone. The 3-hour charging time is relatively slow compared to modern fast-charging standards, meaning you cannot quickly juice it up before a meeting if you forget to charge it overnight. Furthermore, the lack of active noise cancellation means you will hear the world around you. If you need to block out a construction site or a loud office to focus, this open-back over-ear design might let too much ambient sound in. It is best suited for someone who values the natural soundstage and the ability to hear their surroundings while maintaining crystal-clear call quality, rather than someone seeking total silence.
The Cleer ARC 3 Gaming Earbuds take a radically different approach, focusing entirely on connectivity speed, battery longevity, and situational awareness. These are true wireless open-ear headphones, which means they sit outside the ear canal rather than covering it. This design choice is intentional for users who need to stay aware of their physical environment while gaming or working out. The standout feature here is the ultra-low latency of under 30 milliseconds. In the world of interactive applications, VR, or console gaming on PS4/PS5 and Switch, this synchronization is non-negotiable. You cannot have audio lagging behind visual action; the Cleer ARC 3 solves this problem by offering lightning-fast response times that make the immersion feel real.
Battery life is another area where this product absolutely crushes the competition. With a total of 50 hours of playtime available—10 hours from the buds themselves and an additional 40 hours stored in the charging case—the Cleer ARC 3 is built for marathon sessions. Whether you are traveling across multiple time zones, working a double shift, or gaming late into the night, you are unlikely to run out of power. The case even features UV-C sterilization, adding a layer of hygiene for those who use them frequently. The Snapdragon Sound and Dolby Atmos integration further enhance the experience, providing spatial audio that tracks head movement, which is particularly useful for immersive content.
That said, the open-ear form factor is a significant trade-off. Because the drivers are exposed to the air, there is no passive noise isolation. If you are trying to listen to music in a noisy subway or a crowded coffee shop, the audio will compete with the ambient noise. Additionally, while the device supports multipoint pairing via Bluetooth 5.4, the open design means you are always hearing the room. This makes it perfect for gym-goers, runners, or gamers who need to hear their teammates or the game sounds clearly, but less ideal for someone seeking a private, isolated listening bubble. It is also worth noting the 1-hour charge time for the buds is faster than the Bose, but the case takes 2.5 hours to fully recharge.
• Best for battery life → Cleer ARC 3: With 50 hours of total capacity versus 15 hours, the Cleer wins decisively for long-haul usage.
• Best for call clarity in noise → Bose SoundLink Around Ear: The dedicated HD voice microphone system is superior for windy or chaotic environments.
• Best for gaming and video sync → Cleer ARC 3: Under 30ms latency ensures audio matches video perfectly, a must for interactive media.
• Best for comfort during long calls → Bose SoundLink Around Ear: Over-ear design with impact-resistant materials offers a secure fit for extended wear.
• Best for situational awareness → Cleer ARC 3: Open-ear design lets you hear traffic, colleagues, and surroundings while listening to audio.
• Best for portability (case size) → Cleer ARC 3: The carrying case is compact at 4.8 inches, though the buds are open-style; Bose includes a hard case.
• Best for switching devices → Both: Both support multipoint connections, allowing seamless toggling between two Bluetooth devices.
• Best for fast recharging → Cleer ARC 3: A quick 5-minute charge provides 1.5 hours of playtime, whereas Bose requires a longer 3-hour full charge cycle.
If I had to pick one device for my own daily workflow, specifically for meetings, I would choose the Bose SoundLink Around Ear. The reason is simple: when you are in a professional setting, the quality of your voice is just as important as the music you hear. The Bose microphone system is explicitly engineered to cut through noise and ensure the person on the other end hears you clearly, which is the single most critical function for a business user. The 15-hour battery life is sufficient for a standard work week, and the comfort level for long hours of wear is superior due to the over-ear design. While the Cleer ARC 3 is an incredible piece of engineering for gaming and sports, it lacks the acoustic sealing and specialized call hardware needed for serious professional communication. For anyone looking for the best earbuds for meetings or headband headphones for meetings where reliability and voice clarity are paramount, the Bose is the smarter investment.
Yes, the Bose SoundLink Around Ear is specifically designed for this with an advanced microphone system for HD voice in noisy environments. The Cleer ARC 3 works for calls but is optimized for gaming latency rather than vocal clarity in wind.
The Bose SoundLink Around Ear offers up to 15 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge. The Cleer ARC 3 provides a massive 50 hours total, combining 10 hours from the earbuds and 40 hours from the charging case.
The Bose SoundLink Around Ear is an over-ear design that provides some passive isolation but does not have active noise cancellation. The Cleer ARC 3 is open-ear, meaning it offers zero isolation and relies on high volume to overcome background noise.
Both devices support multipoint pairing, allowing you to connect to two Bluetooth devices at once and switch seamlessly between them, such as watching a video on a tablet while staying connected to a smartphone.
