New Ways to Build

Themed, specific calls for submissions of projects that reimagine the ways we use tools and the things we build with them.

What is the Borrowed Tool Project Archive?

This archive is communally-sourced, and the projects inside come from Carlisle Tool Library members, community members, and local craftspeople. We want to challenge ourselves and our members to re-build parts of our world bit by bit, and we hope to make this process more visible and creative by collecting documentation along the way. Forms of documentation vary from project to project, and we accept general submissions year-round on a rolling basis. We also have themed exhibitions of work that have separate deadlines.

How do I submit a project?

Thank you for you interest! Send us some information about your project to Mo Geiger at borrowedtoolprojects@gmail.com . For our current themed call description, visit this page.

What can I submit to the general archive collection?

We would love to hear about your work. Materials accepted include the following:

-your name and a way to contact you (can be a phone # or email address)

-photos of your project

-dates (could be when the project was started and completed, how long it took, etc.)

-tools you used (especially if they were checked out from the library)

-sketches or drawings you did to plan the project (these are optional)
