We went down to the waterfront to look at the new ferry terminal and then stopped at Ivars to sit in the sun, have a picnic lunch, and feed and wonder at the seagulls. Then we walked north admiring the work being done on the pedestrian area and climbed the stairs to the Public Market. We planned to come back later for a meal. Yvonne modified and improved the skirt around the bed that hides our storage there. May flowers are especially beautiful in Ballard. A lovely walk on the Loop Trail around Discovery Park. Jen, JC, Alison, Yvonne, and John had dinner at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley and enjoyed the music of Spyro Gyra. Back to the Public Market area we had brunch at Copacabana Cafe on their balcony and watched the masses shopping for Mothers' Day flowers. We spent a warm evening on Golden Gardens beach. The next morning I walked down the 85th St stairs to Golden Garden's and looked at the piles of garbage and watched workers carry them away - and then at the crystal clear water in the Shilshole Marina and walked by a red MGB like the one I had in 1967-69. Jen and JC hosted a Mothers' Day brunch. We attened a Ballard Alliance brunch and learned about Uplift Northwest. Later we joined a hundred or so people celebrating ground breaking for lowcost housing being built on St Luke's Episcopal Church land close to the Ballard Commons Park. Then Alison, Jess, Costa, and Hugh came for a picnic dinner to watch the Syttende Mai Parade from our balacony. Late in the month we drove to Eastern WA to see Martin and Sheryll and their family and the house/shop they've been building. Then to Spokane to pick up Charmaine and head south to Moscow, ID and Troy and the Burnt Ridge Cemetary to pay our respects. Then the next morning to Ellensburg to see Julie and Chuck, stayed at Josh's short-term rental, met Connie, and said hello to Jesse. And Julie gave us a fresh rhubarb pie to take home. Excellent!
