Yvonne swings big under Ravenna 20th Ave Bridge
Upper and lower Queen Anne: May walks from Smith Cove at the southwest end of Magnolia to Expedia and the next day around upper Queen Anne via some long stairways
Covid-19 infections shut down Seattle and Washington State on March 16th
40th Anniversary at Canlis:. Eight of us convened at our apartment in Ballard and then went to Canlis, above Lake Union, for a fabulous and memorable four-course dinner. The wine flowed, the conversation sparkled, and the laughter was continuous. We might not remember much about the evening but we know we had fun and loved being together.
Ballard: 2020 Blessing of the Fleet (video) Every March for the last 92 years, the North Pacific Fishing Fleet based in Seattle is blessed for the upcoming season. We walked from Ballard across the bridge to the Fisherman's Terminal, participated in the blessing and then walked along the Ship Canal to the Locks and crossed back to the north side. We observed the blue herons nesting above the Locks.
Weekend with Opal: Noah and Natasha were going to a wedding on the Columbia so we got to stay with Opal Saturday and Sunday. We went out for dinner at State and Central in Olympia Saturday, played Shanghi, and watched Happiness Expedition. Sunday morning we hiked out the Nisqually boardwalk and returned just as Noah and Natasha got home. We had a great time asking Opal about her high school life and learned a lot about being 15 these days.
February in Los Osos with Eric, Krisitn, Jackson and Maddie: For the first time ever we flew direct from SeaTac to San Luis Obispo. No long distance driving! Friday night we went to Jackson's baaseball game at Morro Bay High School, watched him play first base, and met his girlfriend, Sidney. Saturday we all watched Maddie at a 4-H class and then in the evening we all watched Animal House, including Sidney. We had forgotten we all might be embarrased but weren't much. Sunday we walked at Montaña de Oro and then watched Maddie at a Los Osos riding lesson. Monday we went up to Cambria and enjoyed the boardwalk along Moonstone Beach. Monday evening we all went out to dinner - with Bob and Diane as well. A pleasure to visit the Mehiels in sunny Central Coast California.
January in San Francisco with James and Keith: We left Seattle Friday morning and got to their condo by about 4:00. Homemade dinner and a documenary about the Berkeley Free Speech Movement. Saturday to the Ferry Terminal, then Berkeley for a campus tour and dinner at Chez Panisse. Sunday brunch at Kelly and Tim's, then the Asian Art Museum. Monday to the SF MOMA then Castro for a film. Great visit with the boys.
