November 16 Saturday: A cloudy, dark, rainy day. We drove up to Bellingham, found the Western Washington visitors' parking lot and walked up the red brick walk to the Viking Union - and after a slight delay Morgan met us there and treated us to brunch at the Viking Commons overlooking Bellingham Bay. Noah and Natasha had been WWU frosh in 1990, 29 years ago. We met one of Morgan's friends from Capital High who was studying psychology and then walked to nearby Mathes dorm where Morgan lives with three other boys in Treehouse, a two-floor suite overlooking Bellingham Bay, Orcas Island and Mt Constitution visible to the west.Morgan then walked us through the campus showing us two of the classrooms he frequents for his fall quarter Bio 101, PoliSci 101, and Asian History classes. It's a beautiful campus. Morgan does climbing at the campus rec center almost every day and he showed us the walls and routes, at least 30 students, women and men, making their vertical moves. Back at the parking lot we said goodbye. It was so nice to see Morgan and for him to show us his new college life!
