U.S. Migration Symposium: On Borders & Belonging

Hosted by Pacific University's Latinx Studies Program

With support from the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, the Department of World Languages and Literatures, and the Student Multicultural Center

This two-day symposium will center on the politics of migration in the United States, as it relates to themes of borders, mobility, citizenship, immigration policy, and belonging. Seeking to historicize social and political conditions that inform migrant crossings, this symposium aims to create a space for social awareness, storytelling, and communal engagement.

Students and faculty of Pacific University will present original work on the various intersections of migration. Programming includes panel presentations (from faculty, students, and guest speakers); a creative writing workshop; a gathering opportunity to connect students with local organizations that serve immigrant communities; and a performing arts event.
