The People, The Place & The History
Boonah One-Place Study
Hello and Welcome
Boonah in Queensland, Australia is a beautiful country town located in the Scenic Rim. The town is situated about 41 km west of Beaudesert, 48 km south of Ipswich and about 87 km from Brisbane, the capital of Queensland.
My ancestors emigrated from Germany and Prussia (now Poland) and made the Boonah area their new home. My immediate family moved from Boonah when I was two years old but I have very happy memories of exploring my grandparent's farm. Even now when visiting Boonah it still feels like coming home.
The goal is to investigate and follow the development of the area and find out what early Boonah was really like. I want to research the building, the farms, the landscape and get to know the people and how they lived. The research area includes Boonah township as well as the surrounding areas of Frenches Creek, Mount French, Templin, Kents Pocket, Hoya, Milford and Dugandan.
The website will be updated as my research progresses. I will try to present all information as accurately as possible but errors may sometimes occur (this is a hobby and I'm not perfect) so as always it is advisable to check out the primary sources for yourself. Please let me know if you notice any mistakes,
I am hoping this website will grow and become a useful and interesting resource for anyone researching Boonah and the early residents.
