Privacy Policy
Effective date: 15/10/25
This Privacy Policy applies to the Boolean Buddy Chrome extension (“Extension”, “we”, “our”, “us”). It explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension.
Summary
We do not collect, transmit, or sell personal data.
All query building happens on your device.
We only use Chrome’s storage to save your own settings locally/sync across your Chrome profile.
When you click Search, your query is sent to the selected search engine (e.g., Google, LinkedIn, Bing, DuckDuckGo) and is then subject to that site’s privacy policy.
Data We Collect
We do not collect any personal information.
We do not collect device information, browsing history, or analytics.
We do not use cookies or third‑party tracking.
On‑Device Processing and Storage
The Extension composes Boolean queries entirely on your device.
Your inputs (fields you type in and your engine choice) may be saved using Chrome’s chrome.storage (local/sync) to preserve your preferences across sessions/devices signed into the same Chrome account.
You can clear saved inputs using the “Clear” action in the Extension UI or by clearing extension data in your browser.
Data Sharing and Selling
We do not share, sell, or transfer user data to third parties.
We do not use user data for advertising or profiling.
Network Requests
The Extension does not send data to our servers (we operate no backend for this Extension).
When you choose to search, the Extension opens a new tab to the selected search engine with your query. That request is handled by the search engine you chose and governed by their privacy policy.
Permissions Use
storage: to save your query builder inputs and preferences.
Host permissions (google.com, bing.com, duckduckgo.com, linkedin.com): to render the on‑page overlay UI on those sites. The Extension does not read or transmit page content; it only displays UI and builds a query string locally.
Children’s Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information.
Security
Because we do not collect or transmit personal data, risks are minimized. Preferences are stored using Chrome’s built‑in storage. You can remove all data by uninstalling the Extension or clearing extension data.
International Data Transfers
Not applicable. We do not transmit personal data to servers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect product or legal changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective date” above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
