A new campaign about the benefit of school libraries has been launched. More information here: https://studentsneedschoollibraries.org.au/

YOGA and SELF MEDITATION SESSIONS

Starting next week (25/10) we are conducting some Yoga and meditation sessions in the library. All students are welcome to attend every Thursday morning at 8:30. The session will concentrate on positive breathing. Staff will also do Yoga every Wednesday afternoon from 3:30. Thanks to Ms Lymbery who will conduct the sessions.

We have some fantastic new books that will be available very soon. During the holidays I enjoyed reading Sir David Attenborough’s “Adventures of a Young Naturalist”. He has lived a remarkable life!

Staff Choice

In every newsletter I will be posting books that staff have nominated as their favourite. It could be a book from their childhood or a new release. This week - Mr Flack recommends Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. The novel is set during World War II, from 1942 to 1944. It mainly follows the life of Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombardier.

As always we are here to help and all are welcome.

Warm regards,

Mr Matthew Devlin

careers news

With the start of the HSC end the end of 13 years of schooling for our students in year 12 it is a good time to consider life after school and the importance of goals for the future. Students are constantly asked to consider their career options and have a post school plan in place, but in this ever changing society it is okay to be unsure about the right path to follow. Recent labour market information tells us that young people will have 17 job and at least 5 different careers over their lifetime, so the decision made before leaving school shouldn't be seen as the only one, but the first one.

With so many study options and career pathways to explore life can sometimes feel overwhelming, so it is important to think about the things that matter most. Is money a priority? Do I want to enjoy what I do? Is travel important? These are the questions that can help shape a career journey. So to all those year 12 slogging it out in their exams and to any student thinking about leaving school, consider all the options and go with the choice the feels like the best fit right now. There is always potential for change.
