Principal's and Deputys' Report

It is regrettably with frustration that I again have to begin my report by offering our apologies by the delay in providing students and their families with Semester 1 reports. Our efforts continue to be hampered by the inability of several of the NSW Department of Education’s software packages to seamlessly ‘talk’ to each other and as a result teachers’ are unable to enter report comments and student data into the report package. By now, Year 12 should have received their reports with other years to follow. At present, there is no guarantee that reports will be distributed to all years by the end of term, however we are still endeavouring to keep to our deadlines as closely as we can. We also seek your assistance in alerting us early if there are any inconsistencies in relation to your child’s attendance that has been recorded on their report and we will rectify that in consultation with you. Accounts have also been sent out recently and we also ask you to contact the school if you have identified any discrepancies. Hopefully we will be able to move ahead more productively in Semester 2 with the move to Third-Party Providers.

On a more positive front, Bomaderry High School staff engaged in our second Professional Learning afternoon for the year on Tuesday of Week 6, covering such areas as: Analysing HSC results; how to utilise the Microsoft OneNote classroom application for i-Pads; Trauma informed practice; Supervising Pre-Service teachers; as well as an introduction to the Third-Party Software application, Sentral. It is our intent to continue to utilise the expertise of our staff here at Bomaderry High School as we continue striving to provide students with outstanding educational experiences.

Well done to all the students who have represented Bomaderry High School in a number of extra curricula activities. Students’ have demonstrated outstanding citizenship on excursions with positive feedback from members of the community, whilst we have also had students excelling in a number of sports. On this note, our congratulations must go to Jade and Kye who achieved first place in their respective age groups at the recent Regional Cross Country Championships. Brilliant!

Deputy principals' Report

As the colder weather increases, parents are reminded about the importance of students having school uniform jumpers which are available from the Uniform Shop on Wednesdays. If your child does not have their jumper on a particular day, they must see a Deputy Principal who will provide them with a clean, second hand jumper for the day.

We have had some problems with students being at the top of the school before their bus has arrived, instead of waiting in bus lines which is in the quad. The school has a policy of all students waiting for their bus in the quad area, with exceptions only for specified early buses. The policy ensures that the pedestrian traffic at the top of the school is minimised, keeping our students much safer. Now that there is so much construction in the neighbourhood of the School site and increased car traffic, it is even more important that students adhere to this policy. Please reinforce with your child the need to follow rules and instructions which are in place to support their safety and wellbeing.

All students should now have access to an iPad for their learning and we are very interested in gathering some data and information from our parents and carers. There is a very short survey on our website and it would be greatly appreciated if you could complete this.

Year 10 will be doing their work experience in Weeks 9 and 10 of this term. Thank you to all of the businesses and organisations that have supported the school and we wish our students all the best.

Regards,

C.Russell, J.Kelly and S.Flack
